In a unexpected collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A mysterious meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the shadows." The narrative presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.

The mission centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Changes

The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Prizes and Extra Material

Players who accomplish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Partnerships

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
