Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
