In a festive surprise, a preview has now been released, even if it's compromised by YouTube's poor compression—perhaps explaining why Nolan initially kept the preview exclusive to cinemas.
The Initial Look at the Legendary Cast
This first look reveals Matt Damon in the role of the king of Ithaca. We also see Tom Holland as Telemachus alongside Anne Hathaway as Penelope. During an emotional scene, the character pleads with Odysseus to promise his safe homecoming, to which he respond by asking what happens if he cannot. The trailer also offers a brief, shadowy glimpse at Polyphemus the Cyclops, whose flock Odysseus and his crew steal during their arduous journey.
Adapted from a foundational pillar in classic storytelling, The Odyssey chronicles the lengthy quest of the legendary King of Ithaca. After his triumph at Troy, which is depicted within the companion epic, Odysseus endures an extended and hazardous road home.
Mythical Encounters with an All-Star Cast
On his travels, the hero encounters countless challenges and mythical beings. This roster features the enchantress Circe, known for turning humans into pigs, and the deceptive Sirens. Regardless of these ordeals, Odysseus vows to overcome anything to reunite with Penelope and Telemachus on his home island.
This film's ensemble is remarkably star-studded. Alongside the leading trio is Charlize Theron as the cunning Circe, alongside Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, and Jon Bernthal.
